Search giant, Google just launched its +1 (plus one) button for publishers to put on their websites. This button will work similar to Facebook’s ‘Like’ and Twitter’s ‘Tweet’ buttons. All you have to do is, press the button if you like the webpage. A counter with the button will be incremented by one.
Like I initially did, you must be wondering how +1 is different from others. Google is going to display the score of the button in your search results and helps you quickly pick useful results from long list. In short it acts like a recommendations to you while searching for certain information. Check below screenshot to see it in action.
As users are more likely to click on high scoring page, web publishers have to give attention to this unlike Google ‘Buzz’ button. This is going to be a master move for Google and it may finally open doors to Google’s long struggle of Social network. Google is taking advantage of its already successful product – Google Search to take this ahead and thus securing better chances of plus one’s success.
However, I want to make clear one thing, this is not going to affect Google’s search algorithm directly. So, you may see low scoring webpages are placed on top of high scoring pages.
If you are a website owner or a publisher and looking for brand new plus one button for your website, you can get it from here. Have a look at following video to know more about this new feature of Google.
