I started my computer in the morning and opened usual applications I need for work. Everyday, my Skype automatically starts with windows and logs me in silently just like most of the Skype users. It took a while to notice that blue icon of Skype on taskbar is still gray and trying to connect to server. As I could browse the internet, it wasn’t my internet connection issue.
I checked on Twitter and ask friends which confirmed another Skype outage. Last outage we saw on Skype was around two days. Skype posted following tweet confirming that some users may face problems.
An hour later, Skype updated its Twitter account to inform users that it had discovered the issue and would roll out a solution as quickly as possible.
The fix Skype posted thereafter, requires users to delete the “shared.xml” file in their Skype folders. The issue is affecting users on Windows, Mac and Linux systems.
Skype has announced to issue easier fix and users are requested to follow these instruction.
