You will no longer have to watch poor quality movies on the internet anymore; Google’s YouTube is offering something much better. The fifth most popular website in India is launching an exclusive channel known as YouTube Box Office. Every month a new Bollywood blockbuster will be put online, and you won’t have to pay a dime.
Gautam Anand, Director of YouTube Japan-APAC Content Partnerships said, “We wish to create a destination for users which is easily discoverable and also help our content partners get more viewers for their premium content. With over 48 hours of content being uploaded on YouTube every minute; this is our attempt to curate premium and exclusive content which our users enjoy. This initiative also opens up a new window of opportunities for marketers to utilize the platform and engage the YouTube community”.
This channel will only be available to users in India and will be IP blocked by other countries. To kick things off the latest movie ‘Band Baaja Baaraat,’ starring actors Ranveer Sing and Anushka Sharma was the first movie to hit the ‘YouTube Box Office’.
After the success of screening IPL, Google’s YouTube is hoping it will have the same response.
The Hindi film industry, known as Bollywood, is considered to be India’s biggest entertainment provider. Though the YouTube channel will be flooded with ads, it will still provide Indians with their favourite movies.
