Toshiba is a well known brand in laptops world and now all set for dive into fast growing tablet market. Toshiba Thrive is the first tablet from Toshiba, announced few weeks ago and today, its going on sale in US. Thrive have pretty good set of features to compete and sports cutting edge Android Honeycomb 3.1. It will be available in three versions, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB. Price starts from $430 and goes up to $630.
Thrive has high-resolution 10.1” diagonal wide-view LED-backlit display. Toshiba says, the screen is engineered with adaptive display technology that adjusts brightness and contrast to the surrounding light conditions automatically.
High-performance for multitasking and HD entertainment
NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip brings 1 GHz dual-core processing power to the tablet, good enough for extreme multitasking. It supports hardware-accelerated Adobe Flash also for smooth and complete browsing experience. NVIDIA GeForce GPU lets you play high definition videos without any hitch.
Unlike most other tablets, Toshiba Thrive has all the well known full size ports including SD card slot, mini USB port, full size USB 2.0 to connect most of the peripheral devices, HDMI port to see media content on big screen TV.
Android Honeycomb 3.1
The Thrive tablet is founded on the tablet-optimized Android 3.1 Honeycomb platform, designed from the ground up to improve your experience with devices just like it. In addition you’ll get full access to Google Mobile Services, Android Market Apps, customization tools and more. This tablet quite simply delivers everything.
List of sensors include a gyroscope, accelerometer, e- compass and GPS. Which means it supports automatic screen rotation (portrait and landscape modes). You can enjoy games specially made to take advantage of 360 degree rotation capabilities of gyroscope with accelerometer and e- compass.
This is a small but new feature of Thrive that allows you to have a removable battery, so you can always have easily replaceable spare battery in case you run out of power.
