Google is now offering badges for reading Google News. As you read articles about your favorite topics, Google keeps track of all those articles using web history (yes, you need to enable web history to make badges working). The more you read, the higher level badge you’ll receive, starting with Bronze, then moving up the ladder to Silver, Gold, Platinum and finally, Ultimate.
Google have created more than 500 badges, so no matter what kind of news you’re into, there’s a badge out there for you. Badges are private by default, but if you want, you can share your badges with your friends. Tell them about your news interests, display your expertise, start a conversation or just plain brag about how well-read you are.
This is just a start, Google is simple checking how readers responds to this move and if it succeeds, Google has plan to expand the feature to the next level.
So, get started with your Bronze level, read more and earn higher badges. Let us know how you feel about this new feature from Google.
