Apple has launched a new version of its 27-inch Cinema Display, which now comes with a Thunderbolt port.
It looks like Apple’s opted for new naming convention. Say hello to the Thunderbolt Display. The 27-inch, 2560 x 1440 resolution, LED backlit screen has built-in FaceTime HD camera, 2.1 speaker system, integrated MagSafe charger for Mac laptops, three USB 2.0 ports, one FireWire 800 port, one Gigabit Ethernet port, and of course, one Thunderbolt port for daisy-chaining up to five additional Thunderbolt products.
The display works with existing HDMI, DVI and VGA adapters, but if you have a Thunderbolt port, you’ll be able to two external display simultaneously. Better still, that one Thunderbolt port will act as your link to every device attached to the display, including the USB and FireWire devices — Apple is calling it the “ultimate docking device,” and well, it certainly does take out some of the clutter.
The Apple Thunderbolt Display is available now in the Apple Store for $999.
