LG has announced a new premium 3D TV that has some awesome features. The new set is called the LW980S is a passive glasses set that taps LG’s Cinema 3D technology, equipped with a NANO Full LED backlit screen. One of the coolest features of the set of those that are looking for 3D capability is that the TV uses passive glasses means that they don’t have to be charged, and are thus, less expensive.
According to Europe’s TUV and Intertek testing agencies, the LW980S has a “flicker-free” screen and is meant to cause less discomfort when viewing. LG also claims that the set has wide viewing angles as well making it easier to watch from different parts of the room.
Some tech specs that we did manage to get our hands on were that LG’s new premium set is in two sizes, 55- and 47-inches, both feature “Nano LED” local dimming with as many as 2,300 sources in the larger one and 480Hz motion technology. They also include other LG standard features like Magic Motion gesture remote control and its Smart TV menus as well as built-in Wi-Fi.
We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for when this set should hit shelves, and just how much weight your wallet will lose should you choose to purchase. Stay tuned.
