Nokia launched a Swedish site counting down to the release of its new most anticipated and awaited, N9 MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan smartphone on September 23.
Look at the countdown; it seems like that it is only referring to the N9 launch in Sweden.
MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan is the open-source operating system Nokia was previously jointly developing with Intel. The Nokia N9 phone offers the awesome N9 User Interface with its revolutionary swipe control scheme and a clean, modern look and feel.
The device sports a 3.9-inch curved AMOLED Gorilla Glass touchscreen, an 8MP Carl Zeiss Wide Angle camera with dual LED flash that can record HD videos at 720p, a 1GHz TI OMAP3630 processor and many other great specs. The N9′s case is made from a polycarbonate material that Nokia says will have better antenna performance than some competitor designs.
There’s no chance in hell that the N9 will be able to compete with the iPhone, Android and in particular Nokia’s flagship devices running Windows Phone 7. Nokia is expected to back up its N9 MeeGo release with the arrival of its first Windows Phone 7 touting handset just weeks later with the WP7 device to land alongside the Mango update for the Microsoft OS.
I want to add that the Nokia N9 will be available in black, cyan and magenta, plus, 16GB and 64GB models will be offered. Well, don’t you think there are too many similarities with the iPhone 5 that is going to be launched at the same time?
