Microsoft released their ambitious cloud based software suite, Microsoft Office 365 in June. Yesterday it was hit by a major outage since then.

Microsoft’s Steven Gerri said, “At approximately 11:30am PDT, Microsoft became aware of a networking issue affecting customers of some Microsoft services hosted out of one of our North American data centers”. He added further that Microsoft’s team worked to isolate the issue and restore the data. Microsoft later confirmed the outage on their Twitter account also.

Office 365 is Microsoft’s entry to cloud-based applications. Its their tool to fight Google Docs. Outage at such an early stage is not good and they need to take preventive actions to avoid it in the future.
