Google, as part of shutdown of Google labs, discontinuing several products. After killing Slide earlier this month(bought for $182 million), now its Aardvark. Aardvark is a social search service and offers question-answer platform through their website and also through chat messengers, mobile SMS etc.
Google purchased Aardvark for $50 million early last year but never really updated or enhanced it. Instead Aardvark employees were moved on Google+ project. “As part of the shutdown of GoogleLabs, Aardvark will be shutting down at the end of September,” Aardvark co-founder Max Ventilla writes in a blog post on the site.
If you are an user of Aardvark like me, you have until 30th September to move your data and find alternative of the service. I was one of the early users of Aardvark and it was fun to answer other’s questions as I get to learn different things. It was here on Aardvark I found Yogesh to invite me as a Techsnapr editor. Its sad to see it shut down like this and I wonder why Google don’t resell it to someone else instead.
