AT&T has finally announced the availability of the Acer Iconia Tab A501 Android Honeycomb tablet, and it will start selling in retail stores and online nationwide (U.S.) beginning Sunday, Sept. 18. AT&T clarified that it would be a HSPA+, not LTE.
You can get the A501 for $480 outright, or for $330 with two-year contract and a $35-a-month data plan that gets you 3GB. Other data options are the same as with the HTC Jetstream: Month-by-month post-paid contracts of $15 for 250MB or $25 for 2GB.
Unlike most other Honeycomb tablets, the Acer Iconia Tab A501 has a full-size USB 2.0 port. It is a 10.1-inch LCD touchscreen (1280×800 resolution) tablet with Android 3.0 Honeycomb running on top of a dual-core, 1.0-GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor. Tablet comes with 5MP rear and 2MP front camera, also HDMI support. An update to Android 3.1 Honeycomb is also planned for over-the-air delivery, although no time frame has been mentioned.
