Sony Ericsson has announced a new range of Walkman Z series of personal media players (PMP) at IFA, where it went by the name of “Walkman Mobile Entertainment Player.” The PMPs are pretty powerful, it will run Android 2.3 Gingerbread and will feature a 4.3-inch WVGA (480×800) screen, 1GHz Tegra 2 CPU, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and HDMI port out or over the air using DLNA. The PMP sports with 512MB of RAM, the usual Bluetooth, GPS, Gyroscope, and an FM radio are all included. Sony promises 20 hours of music and 5 hours of video on the Walkman Z. The player also includes Throw, a feature for pushing media wirelessly to a Bravia TV.
Storage options span 16GB (NW-Z1050), 32GB (NW-Z1060) and 64GB (NW-Z1070), with Sony providing estimated prices of ¥28,000, ¥33,000, and ¥43,000, respectively. That’s between $362 and $556 when translated into US currency. And color choices will be red/black or black/blue or you can wait for a limited edition white version in early 2012.
If you’re interested to know the pricing, it’s still open according to Sony, but Sony does commit to availability in Japan from December 10th.
