Toshiba to Launch New 7-inch Android Tablet, Headed to Consumers in December

toshiba thrive 7 android tabletToshiba already has one Android tablet out on the market right now, a 10-inch device called the Toshiba Thrive, Toshiba is also launching a new all–in-on desktop computer with a 23-inch touchscreen, and now, it has announced plans to bring a 7-inch device called the Thrive 7” to market by December.

The tablet will run Android 3.2 Honeycomb, 1GB of RAM while powered by a NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual processor. Spec highlights include 1280×800 resolution, Toshiba’s Adaptive Display and Resolution+ video enhancements, stereo speakers, 5MP rear camera and 2MP front camera, a miniUSB, microHDMI and a microSD card slot for memory expansion, that go along with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Consumers will have their choice of either the16GB model or the 32GB model. The 7-inch tablet weighs only .88 pounds and it is .47 inches thick and fewer full-sized ports — it’s only got 3.5mm headphone.

It has built-in Adobe Flash support, high-quality speakers and an optional dock and keyboard. Users will have the option of getting either Intel Core i5 and Core i7 microprocessors.

No word yet on pricing or availability, though a Toshiba rep confirmed that the new Tablet will go on sale by early December with a starting price of “less than $400.
