Facebook App for iPad was leaked in July, has now finally released its official app for iPad; the version found embedded in the iPhone application looks pretty legit. If you’re code-savvy Flo’s weblog has posted instructions on how to activate the application on your iPad now.
The app is available now as a universal app for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, and is a free download from the App Store. The new app brings support for Facebook games, an improved interface, and more.
It’s pretty great, browsing your feed, photos, and friends’ profiles is a nice experience. The UI design is also a great implementation of Facebook’s chat and check-in services. The Facebook for iPhone app is also getting updated with app bookmarks, improved notifications, and Facebook Credit support for in-app payments.
One of the key features of the iPad-specific app is its integration with other iOS apps: The Facebook app will send you straight to other apps when you navigate to them from a friend’s news post or status update. For example, if a friend posted a link from The Daily, clicking the link would take you to The Daily app itself. Persistent access to notifications, messages, and requests will also allow users to check for new alerts while bookmarking their previous place elsewhere in the app.
Facebook didn’t forget about video, either — Facebook for iPad supports HD video and Airplay, so users can watch Facebook videos through their Apple TVs or their other Apple devices.
The new iPad compatibility is also being featured heavily on Facebook’s site.
