NITDroid project entered a new stage of development with the Nokia N900 running Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Yes, Nokia N900 now runs Android Ice Cream Sandwich. However it’s worth noting that the build of the ROM is far from complete, and is running extremely sluggishly on the device.
Like so many hacks these days, the group NITDroid is responsible for the Android 4.0 port. As you can see in the video below, the release still has some bugs and problems, one being the huge lag in the web browser and apps in general. Most of this probably has to do with the fact the N900 is running just a 600MHz processor and has only 256MB of RAM. For those interested in trying out the ROM, be careful. This is an extremely early build and is even referenced as being “pre-pre-alpha,” so don’t expect the revamped, pure Android 4.0 experience any time soon, but if you’re feeling up to it, head on over to NITDroid for detailed instructions.
