Instagram, a once iOS staple; has blown up on the iPhone, reaching 50 million users one year after launch. The application, which allows you to share retro style pictures between followers, as well as Tweet and post images to Facebook, has long been popular with iPhone users. Instagram already has over 15 million users on iOS, and it is looking to expand the user base by coming to Android.
The company currently has 50 million users and they think that the move over to Android has the potential to double the number of users editing and sharing their photos.
Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom told a crowd at the LeWeb conference in Paris, “We have two people working on Android now.”
Systrom also spoke about the need to attract advertisers and wants to attract more users to the app to grow further interest from advertisers, as the company seeks to start making money from its popularity.
No date as of yet for the Android launch, but if you do fancy giving the app a go and own an iPhone, then it can be downloaded here.
