Reportedly, Acer is going to release a 15-inch Ultrabook having a fiberglass chassis produced by Mitac Precision Technologies in the production with Pegatron, according to a DigiTimes source in the supply chain.
The rumour marked $699 price tag for the latest model of the Ultrabooks, not the $1,000 or more, demanded by existing models.
Acer Ultrabooks are made by ODM supplier Wistron. By the end of the year, the sales of the existing models are expected to be around 250,000 to 300,000 units. A larger screen Ultrabook will help lure those that want portability with more screen space.
Not many actual hardware or software details were provided. But earlier clues had the 15-inch Acer Ultrabook arriving in early 2012, possibly being unveiled at Acer’s CES event on January 8.
