Alongside the faster JavaScript processing Firefox 9 continues to show improvements from Mozilla’s MemShrink project, an ongoing effort to reduce memory usage in the browser.

Mozilla said, “The latest update to Firefox includes Type Inference which boosts JavaScript performance and allow rich websites and Web apps with lots of pictures, videos, games and 3D graphics to load and run much faster.”

Mac OS X Lion users get better theme integration and support for two-finger swipe. Firefox 9 also comes with plenty of improvements under the hood including better support for web technologies such as HTML5, MathML and CSS.

If you’d like to try out Firefox 9, head on over to the Mozilla downloads page. If you’re already using Firefox you’ll be automatically updated to version 9.
