Samsung may prepare a slightly updated version of the Galaxy Nexus, the Galaxy Nexus Plus, if rumor comes straight from NenaMark site holds true, where benchmark test shows a Galaxy Nexus featuring a PowerVR SGX544 graphics processor.
Now obviously this information can be faked but we’ve seen plenty of benchmark results from NenaMark in the past that have wound up accurate but we’ll still take this with a large grain of salt. Let’s break it down though. As you all know, the current Galaxy Nexus is running at 1.2 GHz on a TI OMAP 4460 with the SGX540 graphics processor. And the leak above seems to be running at 1.3 GHz but offers the SGX544 GPU. Something that we know is the device to be coming on the new 1.8 GHz capable TI OMAP 4470 processor, which makes this device unique as well.
If this rumor holds true, I’m sure many Galaxy Nexus owners would be extremely upset if their shiny new phones get replaced by something better so quickly. As Galaxy Nexus coming on Sprint very soon, as well as in India by March, but we still don’t know much about the official specs. Rumors have suggested it could feature an improved 8 MP camera (compared to 5 MP of the original), so it’s possible that Samsung and Google could update the processor as well if a faster one is available in time.
