Sony Ericsson and the extreme sports brand Billabong have been partnered, and both companies have announced a special edition of Sony Ericsson Xperia Active handset, called Xperia Active Billabong Edition.
The IP67 certificated new smartphone uses rugged and scratch-proof technology, and also boasts of wet finger tracking technology which protects it against dust and water. The new Xperia Active Billabong smartphone now has a redesigned rear panel, plus a wealth of branded material stored on the phone, such as videos, wallpapers, screensavers and a special surf game.
The 3-inch HVGA touchscreen handset is powered by a 1 GHz processor and comes equipped with Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS (an Ice Cream Sandwich update should to hit in March or April). The Billabong Edition also sporting a 5MP snapper, 512MB of RAM and 2GB of built-in storage. Other specs include an integrated FM radio with RDS, DLNA support, Billabong screensavers and videos, a Billabong LIVE app, Timescape, flashlight, GPS, barometer, Wi-Fi, HSDPA, compass, and a Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine.
Sony Company, however, didn’t mention how much the Xperia active Billabong Edition smartphone will cost, but it is available now in selected markets.
