Archos, an award-winning innovator in consumer electronics, reportedly plans to bring a 7 inch Android tablet for children by the end of March this year. Called Archos Child Pad, the slate obviously boasts kid-friendly features, such as access to the Kids App Store that offers 14 friendly categories and 10,000 apps.
The seven-inch tablet is expected to cost just $129. Powered by a 1GHz single-core processor, the new tablet will be flavored by Android 4.0/Ice Cream Sandwich OS, but the lack of cameras. It will be coupled by 1GB of RAM. Unfortunately, Archos hasn’t shared any details about the screen resolution, storage capacity, or other hardware features yet.
Archos has also made for it; a new interface suitable for young audiences with colorful icons, folders on the home page provides direct access to games, entertainment, learning and reflection applications, and the tablet will also offer 28 applications for children. The Child Pad has a fun, engaging user interface and comes pre-loaded with a slew of kids’ games and apps, including Angry Birds. To keep the little ones safe from the wide world of the World Wide Web, the Child Pad’s has parental controls powered by Editions Profil and an app store filtered for kid friendliness.
