Recently a report has surfaced claiming to have information on the codename of the iteration of Android that’ll follow Jelly Bean. The “reliable source” tipped to The Verge stating that the next Android version (the possible 6.0) to come, after Jelly Bean, will be called Key Lime Pie.
Although Google has yet to officially confirm the next release of Android. The Key Lime Pie seems to be the logical step after Android Jelly Bean, as Google is known for its pattern of naming new versions of Android after desserts.
Android version before has been named after a pastry in alphabetical order starting with Cupcake (1.5), Donut (1.6), Éclair (2.1), Froyo (2.2), Gingerbread (2.3), Honeycomb (3.0) and Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0), so we suspect it to be named Key Lime Pie after Jelly Bean as well.
What features Key Lime Pie would have, weren’t mentioned. It’s likely too early to determine a feature set and may not get more details until 2013, when it’s most likely to ship. We’ll keep you guys posted as we hear once about this topic.
