There a few rumors flying across the web I heard recently that a couple of different manufacturers are working on the first Google branded tablet, which was rumored to be called the Google Nexus tablet. To be retailed for $199, the tablet now being readied for a late Q2 release indeed, according to a report.
According to rumor, Google and Asus are working together on a project, and it could very well be the first Google branded device. ASUS has been building a great relationship with Google, so this would not surprise us very much, if ASUS comes first to manufacture the Google tablet.
Rumored to be powered by a NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor the tablet will feature a 7 inch 1280×800 touchscreen and will go neck to neck with Amazon kindle Fire in the matter of price which was tagged for $199. In a similar move to what Barnes and Noble did with its Nook tablet to make it a $199 product (the initial price was $249), so the Nexus tablet might come with a small amount of internal storage space. There is also rumor that Google may prepare another tablet for $299 which will be sized for 10 inch display.
At the moment, the tablet is rumored to be named as Google Play and its production could start in April, and the tablet could be on the market in June. Perhaps it will be unveiled during Google I/O, the annual developers’ conference, on June 27. On which version of Android the tablet will run, hasn’t been confirmed, but it will likely run on Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean OS.
