Samsung has announced that its Galaxy S II smartphone will get Ice Cream Sandwich update today. In announcement, the company said, while we promised to update ever since Google made the new platform version official, we did not deliver specific info on when it might be released. This time, the claim about the GS2 Android 4.0 update came from South Korean cellular provider SK Telecom. The carrier tweeted that it would be delivering the update to GS2 users beginning March 13th at 10am (local time).
However, at the moment, the Android 4.0 update being rolled out to countries include Poland, Hungary and Sweden in Europe, and South Korea in Asia. The ICS update will be gradually released in other countries soon after a while. It seems like the update is rolling out via Kies right now, there is no word on the OTA roll-out.
The blog post, by Samsung, also stated that Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for GALAXY Note, GALAXY SII LTE, GALAXY Tab 8.9 and 10.1 will follow soon, but there was no mention of a concrete release date. We’ll keep you guys update, when we hear once.
