Specifications and a press shot for Sony’s next smartphone, dubbed as the Xperia Pepper, have appeared online. Still going by its model number (MT27i) and code name, the smartphone was likely to debut at MWC show in Barcelona, according to a leak which has seasoning the web with sprinklings of twelve leaked devices in January.
The leaked Sony’s Roadmap, suggested three devices would be announced at MWC (code named Kumquat, Nypon and Pepper). However, only two devices were unveiled out there, namely the Xperia U and Xperia P. So we suspect that the Xperia Pepper MT27i handset should be introduced pretty soon, too, as an official image of it has appeared somewhere in China, which you can see above.
Judging by the image, the design looks very similar to the Xperia NXT devices, though it lacks that transparent antenna at the bottom, so its design is a more traditional one.
The Xperia Pepper MT27i is also rumoured to sport a 3.7-inch (480 x 854) FWVGA display, 8GB of internal storage, 512MB RAM, a 5MP snapper, and NFC support. It will be powered by a dual-core processor clocked at 1GHz. No word on when the Pepper might land; so let’s stay tuned for the official announcement. As always, we’ll keep you guys updated.
