Rev your engines, Android developers, as the Ice Cream Sandwich kernel sources for the HTC Vivid, the HTC Sensation, and the HTC Sensation XE now available for download on the HTC’s Developer Center website.
Recently Samsung released ICS source code for its GS2 phone; we find it rather surprising that HTC has decided to release the ICS kernel source code so early in the game.
The HTC’s smartphones were already in lime light regards getting Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade, and Vivid got the latest update with required dialer trick, so it worth made sense for an early release. It’s really good news, especially devs who have been waiting for this, for what they need to build custom kernels and Ice Cream Sandwich ROMs for the newly-updated phones. Kernel source code helps developers make custom ROMs and you can bet developers will be hard at work whipping up some Ice Cream flavored goods before too long.
If you have used to grab the new updates with the Kernel source code or you’re one of those developers, or if you’re just curious what a hundred MB or so of Linux kernel sources looks like, hit the source link below for your streaming development pleasure.
