
Those looking for an affordable, Android ICS-powered tablet have an array of choices in the market, like Zync Z990, BSNL TPad, Reliance Tab, iBerry Auxus, new HCL tablets and now the latest one from Micromax. Indian mobile phone maker Micromax has just revealed an ICS-powered tablet for India, which is priced at affordable INR 6,499 only.
Powered by a 1.2GHz Cortex A8 processor with Dual Mali 2D/3D Graphics, the tablet features a 7-inch (800 x 480) 16:9 capacitive display, 4GB Internal storage (expandable up to 32GB via MicroSD card), 0.3MP VGA front facing camera, HD video playback (MPEG2/4, AVI, WMV, MOV), and of course Android 4.0/Ice Cream Sandwich OS to run with. It is coupled by 512MB of RAM. It also has 3G (via USB Dongle), WiFi b/g, USB 2.0, HDMI out. Micromax is also bundling a Tata Photon EVDO data card with the tablet. There is also a 2800 mAh battery that offers up to 5h browsing time.
Micromax Funbook includes an e-learning app and allows users to access study materials, videos, multimedia, tests, assessment, and even references from leading content brands, like Pearson, Everonn, GK Publishers, Scholarshub, Vidyalankar, Universal Tutorials, CAPS, Zion and more. BIGflix, enables choosing from over 1000 movies in 9 languages, improved gaming offered by Indian games, latest gossip on ‘Bolly Buzz’ and 1GB of free downloads for the first two months.
The Funbook also has entertainment features such as Apps, Games, Live TV, Movies, Songs and much more.
The device, targeted specially at the education sector, will be manufactured in India at the company’s manufacturing unit in Haridwar. This offers interactive study materials for students from class 1 to 12.
