Considering the plans to become the first car manufacturer to eliminate power cords from cars, the Chrysler’s Mopar division has announced that it will be bringing the ability to wirelessly charge your cell phone, merely by placing it in an integrated power bin.
The charging mat comes built into the car’s center console, and it requires a special phone case to work, which the company claims, the charging bin will work with MP3 players and iPhone, Blackberry and Android mobile phones, provided those devices are fitted with a special case. However, the first vehicle to get it will be the 2013 Dodge Dart when it becomes available in the second quarter of this year. The in-vehicle wireless charging system will come as an available option and carry a cost of $200 plus installation.
So, soon, there will be no excuse not to chat with friends instead of focusing safely on the road while you’re driving.
