Like the recent Kindle Fire update, Amazon has released the latest Kindle Touch software update to 5.1.0 and it’s definitely worth downloading if you have the device. The new latest update comes with a range of new features and adds a landscape mode, allowing users to switch orientation when reading, as well as including the ability to translate a given word or passage into other languages with a simple tap.
Bringing the customized language support, offering up the Touch’s interface, include German, French, Spanish, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese, in addition to both US and UK variants of English as well.
Also include the support for WPS and select WPA2 Enterprise networks added, the update also bring Text-to-Speech improved feature to add support for summaries of newspaper and magazine articles (when publishers so graciously allow it). The keyboard now displays suggested words as you type to help make typing faster and easier.
However, the Kindle Touch 5.1.0 Software Update is available for manual download from Amazon right now, or you can wait to automatically get the update over Wi-Fi on the Kindle in the “coming weeks”.
For manual install, just download the update file, plug your Kindle Touch into your computer with the USB cable, and drag the downloaded file onto the root folder of the Kindle Touch. Then from the Kindle’s homescreen go to Menu > Settings > Menu > Update Your Kindle.
On a side note, the Kindle Touch will be available for purchase in several European countries starting April 27th.
