Sony Xperia ICS Update

Sony Mobile has revealed that it will roll out Android 4.0 update for remaining 2011 smartphones lineup including Xperia Arc, Xperia Neo, Xperia Pro, Xperia Active, Xperia mini, Xperia mini pro and Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman. The ICS update will hit the devices starting next week.

The company, however, started rolling out the update for Xperia arc S, Xperia neo V and Xperia ray a few weeks ago in selected region. After the ICS update, these three smartphones are also expected to get Android version 4.0.4 update soon, while this would be phased roll out over several weeks and it may vary based on a specific phone model and the county.

While Sony Xperia S owners would get the ICS update by end of June, Xperia P will follow the release, though Xperia U owners would have to wait till Q3 2012.

There is still no words on how users will get this update, but there’s no harm to check your notifications if the company will roll out the update via OTA. However, we suspect that the company will push the new update via the company’s PC and Mac companion software.

On the other hand, bad news for Xperia PLAY owners as Sony Mobile changed its mind and will not deploy an Android 4.0 ICS upgrade due to lack of stable experience in gaming.
