Nintendo TVii Brings Live TV to Wii U

In addition to revealing its Wii U gaming machine, Nintendo took the wraps off a new entertainment experience, the Nintendo TVii. Bringing the ability to find and watch television shows, movies, and sports broadcasts on Wii U, the TVii app’s offering comes with Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Amazon Instant Video support.

TVii AppThe new Nintendo TVii app lets record specific moments and capture individual images from the TV program or sports event you’re watching, through the GamePad. Users can also share and comment on their content on social networking sites. The new app also brings users control, record and interacts with TV and movies programming compatibility through using the Wii U’s tablet controller.

Nintendo TVii is free with the purchase of a Wii U gaming console this November. Initially, the service will be headed to United States and Canada only, though Nintendo is “exploring” expansion across the Americas in coming months.
