Microsoft just has started taking preorders for the Surface tablet on its official website. The slate is priced at $499 for 32GB model, though you can fork out a little more payment to grab an optional keyboard cover or extra storage space.

As we reported, the tablet will be shipping starting October 26^th.

To remind you, the new Microsoft Surface Tablet features a 10.6 inch (1366 x 768p) display, and a 1.4 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. Other features also include Windows RT + Office Home & Student 2013 RT.

It looks like, Microsoft is also offering two different types of covers with the slate — only if you pay a bit extra. Wherein, the Touch Cover has a touch-sensitive keyboard, while the Type Cover has physical keys that you actually press down on.

Moreover, the Microsoft Surface tablet is equipped with a kickstand on the back so you can prop it anywhere while using the keyboard.
