Galaxy Grand Phablet by Samsung
Samsung has just taken wraps off the Galaxy Grand, a Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean-running smartphone with huge 5-inch Display but a low resolution (at 800 x 480 pixels) usually found on mid-tier devices. Previously leaked as “Baffin” via FCC filling, the Samsung Galaxy Grand is resolutely mid-range (inside); featuring a dual-core 1.2GHz processor coupled with 1GB of RAM, 8MP back shooter with 1080p video recording, 2MP front-facer, and 8GB internal storage (expandable upto 64GB). It will be sold in two version, i9080 (single-SIM), and i9082 (Dual-SIM).
Usual connectivity on the handset include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, HSPA+ and DLNA. There’s also a 2100 mAh battery.
On the software front, the Galaxy Grand Phablet packs new TouchWiz UI, S Voice, Multi-Window, AllShare Play, Direct Call, Smart Alert, Popup Play and various Hubs. No words on pricing and availability, but since it is a mid-range device after all, we suspect it to be tagged around $200 or more–with a debut expected for Asian and European markets first.
