While 4K resolution-equipped TVs made headlines at this year’s CES, no one stopped those, big, players asking: how will users get native contents? International satellite TV operator Eutelsat Communications (EC) has the answer, however. Grabbing movers advantage, the operator launched 4K TV channel with the first 3840 x 2160 pixels broadcast demonstration — at least in Europe. The broadcasts began on January 8th, however. Encoded in MPEG-4, the UHD channel runs 4K video at 50 frames per second.
So far, there are only three UHDTVs on the market, so there isn’t a need for much rush here. But it’s still good to see a provider getting ready for the forthcoming 4K wave. Thoughts?
