ZTE has just unveiled a Grand S‘s sibling — in the form of mid-tier version for emerging markets — going by the model number as ZTE V987. That being said; the device has same 5-inch gapless panel, except it is capped at a 1280×720 pixel resolution. Meanwhile, 1.5GHz quad-core S4 Pro chip is powered down to 1.2GHz quad-core, and the 13MP shooter is sized down to 8MP — to keep the price down. However, there’s no word on pricing, but considering its hardware specs it seems to be an Asia-specific device — to be more specific it gets DualSIM slots (WCDMA + GSM) — sure enough the company will be tagging it up at a reasonable price. The Jelly Bean-running ZTE V987, however, has a much bigger removable 2,500mAh battery, that might be a selling point, too. It’s unclear whether the handset will make its way outside of Asia. Stay tuned for a follow-up post, though.
