WP 7.8 Update for Lumia Phones

Starting today, Nokia has began pushing WP 7.8 update to its all Lumia Smartphones, including 510, 610, 710, 800 and 900.

Being pushed out in a staggered phases, the new OTA update should be arriving to you in the coming weeks. Though, you’re advised to connect your device to PC or Mac to get the update as it’s not available as an OTA update, at the moment. That being said; like Lumia 900 the update should be grabbed through desktop software, such as Zune.

As you would expect, the update will bring a lots of Windows Phone 7.8 goodies, which include new resizable homescreen — from Windows Phone 8 — with multiple tile sizes. It also brings access to Internet Sharing, Bluetooth Sharing, as well as Camera Extras feature. Furthermore, users will have new option — that we reported on Lumia 900 — to Bing Image to set up as the lock screen wallpaper that will be changed automatically each day.

We’re still waiting for official words on update from other OEMs — like Samsung and HTC — on their devices. We’ll keep you posted when we hear more.
