Amazon has added support for around 195 countries worldwide by releasing an update for its Appstore for Android. So, now there’s one more place to get genuine Android applications.

Amazon Appstore is used frequently in those countries where Google does not officially provide paid applications, but from now onwards by Amazon Appstore you can download paid applications in these countries also (currently available in 137 countries).

You can find discounts on paid applications on Amazon Appstore as compared to the Google Playstore where prices of apps remain same as always without any discounts and offers. You can also grab one paid app for free every day under ‘Today’s free app of the day’ promo on Amazon Appstore.

So, get ready to install Amazon Appstore on your Android devices. The following steps will help you to download these apps:

1. First, allow installation of applications from unknown sources.

On ICS/ JB running devices –

Go to Settings >> Security >> Unknown Sources >> check it.

On Gingerbread devices –

Go to Settings >> Applications >> Unknown sources >> check it.

Tap OK, if your phone asks for confirmation. ‘Unknown sources’ is already checked, you can skip this step.

2. Download Amazon Appstore for Android APK from this link.

3. Tap on downloaded APK file in your notification shade or downloads

4. Tap Install

5. Click OK

6. Amazon Appstore might give some warning or notification the first time you try to install an app, click OK and it will refresh to open your country-specific version and then it will start working.

So, try it out, hopefully you can download all your favorite apps even if it a paid app on discounted rates.

Since the past couple of months, rumors about Google’s subscription plans emerged in the market. According to the Financial times report, Google is set to introduce new paid subscriptions for specialist video channels on YouTube from this week. This enables them to deliver a wider range of content such as TV shows and movies, as well as a new source of additional revenue streams for content creators. The service will include up to 50 YouTube channels, and subscriptions to each channel will start as low a $1.99 per month.

In response, a YouTube spokesperson told Mashable, “We have nothing to announce at this time, but we’re looking into creating a subscription platform that could bring even more great content to YouTube for our users to enjoy and provide our creators with another vehicle to generate revenue from their content, beyond the rental and ad-supported models we offer.”

The company has already included two lines of code appeared in YouTube for Android that referred to paid channel subscriptions. The code, however was generated to show messages on users screens, say: “You can only subscribe to this paid channel on your computer,” and “You can only unsubscribe from this paid channel on your computer.”

It has already invested $200 million in marketing cash to promote original content on YouTube, and subscriptions could help it make some of that back. So be ready to surf premium content exclusively on youtube.

Smartphone market heated-up with the launch of two beasts HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4. Both these phones are packed with great features and are designed to give the best possible user experience to its customers. But which of these two android smartphones is better? The following review compares both the high end smartphones on the basis of their features and user experience.

This is clash of titans: Read the following review to take a close look.

Hardware:

1. The HTC One has a more metallic premium aluminum feel to it. The Samsung S4 body is made of plastic just like the previous Samsung models and the phone gives a shiny plastic look. So people who liked the metallic look will like the HTC One’s look whereas the people who have liked the previous models of Samsung Galaxy will find this look of the new S4 pretty much the same.

2. The HTC One is taller than the Samsung Galaxy S4 but the S4 is much thinner and also wider than the HTC One smartphone. Also the HTC One is slightly heavier than the S4 as the HTC one weighs 143 grams and the Samsung S4 weighs just 130 grams.

3. HTC One is already released in the market in March and the S4 will launch and be available in many parts of the world by the end of April.

4. The screens of the two smartphones have a considerable difference. The HTC One has a Super LCD 3 capacitive Touchscreen whereas the S4 has a Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen. The S4 screen is more vibrant and brighter as compared to the HTC One which is more subtle. Also an important difference between the two is that the Samsung Galaxy S4 has a 5 inches screen whereas the HTC One has a slightly smaller 4.7 inches screen. The HTC One has a HTC Sense v5 UI interface whereas the S4 has a Touchwiz UI.

5. HTC One is available in two variants of 32 GB and 64 GB internal memory with no external memory option. The Galaxy S4 has 3 variants of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB internal memory space with up to 64 GB external memory Micro SD slot. So memory capacity wise the Galaxy S4 is better.

6. Even the Battery of the S4 is 2600 mAh which is slightly better than the 2300 mAh that HTC One is offering. Also S4 has a removable and replaceable battery which HTC One does not have. Both have reasonable good battery lives.

7. The styling of the button and slots is different in both the phones. The HTC one has a Home and Back physical button in the front whereas the S4 has more traditional Home, Menu and Back Buttons.

Camera:

1. The camera of the S4 is really great and loaded with many more features as compared to the HTC One.

2. S4 has a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 2 Megapixel front camera. The HTC One has a 4 Megapixel rear camera with Ultrapixels and 2 Megapixel front cameras.

3. The phones have many similar camera features but the S4 has some added features like dual shot, eraser, sound and shot features, cinema phot0 and drama shot feature which adds to the camera experience of Samsung Galaxy S4.

4. The front camera of the HTC One is a more wide angled camera as compared to the front camera of the Galaxy S4.

Sound:

The HTC One has an overall better sound system as compared to the Samsung Galaxy S4. There are two speakers in the front of the phone which give the users a sound experience. These speakers are dual Boon sound speakers and can be quite loud. The S4 has a mono speaker and the sound quality is good but HTC One is better.

Software:

1. Both the phones are based on android operating systems however the Samsung has the latest 4.2.2 Jelly Bean version for the S4 whereas the HTC One has the 4.1.2 version of the android operating system.

2. Also the S4 has an Octa core processor option in some countries which the HTC One does not have.

3. The HTC One has gone for a more minimalistic user interface as compared to the S4.

4. When it comes to features, both phones also have a lot of cool features in it. There is a long list of features that are included in both phones. However the Samsung Galaxy S4 has many more features as compared to the HTC One as Samsung has come up with a lot of state of the art and innovative features as compared to HTC One.

Overall both the phones are some of the best smartphones available on the planet at the moment but Samsung Galaxy S4 has an advantage in comparison with the HTC One in many areas.

HTC’s upcoming M4 handset, which is expected to be similar to the company’s First but with an UltraPixel camera, is reportedly set to hit in June. According to Digitimes, Catcher Technology will reportedly become an exclusive supplier of metal-alloy chassis for use in HTC’s M4 smartphone, a revision of its New HTC One.

The latest rumors suggest that the mid-range smartphone will feature a 4.3-inch 720p HD display, a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor and an “Ultrapixel” rear camera. The device may also include 16GB of internal storage, 1GB of RAM and Sense 5 atop Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

Perhaps key for those curious as to when the HTC M4 will be released, as report suggests, HTC could start shipping the M4 this June with wider availability in the third quarter, and have 700,000 units out the door before the quarter’s over.

Microsoft actually tried to get into the watch game in the early 2000s with its Smart Personal Objects Technology initiative. Those devices used radio waves to get some basic data such as weather report, etc, Later; Microsoft discontinued the platform due to poor adoption by consumers.

Hardware specifics of Microsoft’s smart watch weren’t shared by the Wall Street Journal, except that it would be contained within a 1.5-inch display. There’s no estimated time of arrival or specific price pointed provided.

Rumors of an industry-wide race to build a modern smartwatch have kept speculation high on the future of intelligent timekeeping.
HTC One seems closer to the Indian release. The Jelly Bean running HTC’s 4.7-inch behemoth can be bought for INR 42,900 by the end of April — or starting April 22nd, to say the least. HTC India has also stated that the company has tied up with RCom (Reliance Communications) to sweeten the deal. Having that said, the company will be offering three months of 1GB free 3G data with each HTC One purchase.

GSM subscribers will also get free BigFlix subscription for 3 months that will enable Reliance 3G users to watch movies on the go without incurring any additional data charges.

Powered by a 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 CPU by Qualcomm, the HTC One houses 2GB of RAM under the hood. Connectivity options, including Wi-Fi 802.11 a/ac/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, NFC also can be found inside the phone, alongside a brand new Sense UI running top-notch over Android version 4.1 Jelly Bean.

It’s unclear whether HTC will bring 64GB model of the device to the Indian shores shortly after. We suspect NOT!

“People today immerse themselves in a constant stream of updates, news and information. Although smartphones are one of the main ways we stay in touch with the people and information we care about, conventional designs have failed to keep pace with how people are actually using them,” said Faisal Siddiqui, Country Head, HTC India.

“A new, exciting approach to the smartphone is needed and with the new HTC One, we have re-imagined the mobile experience from the ground up to reflect this new reality,” he added.

It might not come as surprise to us if HTC One’s Ultrapixel-equipped back shooter becomes the selling-point of the handset, as reportedly what makes it awesome is BSI sensor, Pixel size 2.0 µm, Sensor size 1/3′, dedicated HTC ImageChip 2, F2.0 aperture and 28 mm lens. Along with HDR Video recording capability, the phone’s Ultrapixel camera makes it easier to shoot slow motion video with variable speed playback — thanks to HTC Zoe technology. There’s also a 2.1MP front-facing shooter with HDR and 1080p Full HD video recording capability.

With HTC One is already being called the best designed and most innovative Android smartphone on the planet, its 1080p display will definitely put this beast right in league with its rival, such as Galaxy S4 and iPhone 5.

While HTC’s Butterfly is still tagged around at INR 46,000 in India, people looking for a high-tier device won’t regret waiting for the One.

What do you guys think of this ONE? Would it help HTC stacke up against competition?

T-Mobile USA is pushing out Jelly Bean update to its old yet faithful smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S2. Available through Samsung’s KIES software utility, the new 756MB update will bump the Android software version up to 4.1.2 while have it sitting with base-band version T989UVMC6.

It’s worth mentioning that due to large file cramp, the update is not rolling out over-the-air (OTA).

The update for Magenta-bound Galaxy S2 phone is coming out around a week and a half after Sprint’s variant of the device was upgraded.

Samsung began rolling out the update for the handset in early January, though.

Alongside Google Now, the latest S2 Jelly Bean update will bring new TouchWiz and support for offline voice recognition under the hood. That’s not all though, as phone owners can also look forward to smoother performance — thanks to the “Project Butter”. You will also get the improved notifications which means more information and more options directly from the drop-down notification shade.

If you’re toting the Magenta-flavored version of the Galaxy S2, it’s time for you to fire up the KIES software in your PC and then plug your gadget in soon thereafter.

If you’ve been pondering to snap a mini tablet — despite you have a number of choices, including Apple’s iPad mini, Google-bound Nexus 7 and Galaxy Note 8.0 — then you might want to wait a little longer, as Taiwan-based Acer Electronics might have a new player in the arena, in the form of Iconia A1-810.

The Android 4.2 Jelly Bean-flavored tablet has been caught listing over French’s online retailer Rue Du Commerce. Thankfully, MiniMachines caught the page before someone scrubbed it clean. The website’s listing suggested that Acer’s unannounced Iconia A1-810 will be featuring jaw-dropping specs, including a 1.2GHz quad-core CPU by MediaTek, coupled with 1GB RAM. The IPS display with 1024 x 768 pixel resolution puts the slate right in league with Apple’s iPad mini, but it also means a lower pixel density than the Google’s Nexus 7 tab. However, Iconia A1810′s biggest selling point might be its price point, at €199, or about $259, if French retailer’s listing was something to go by.

You’ll also find WiFi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS radios inside, along with a 3,250 mAh battery — which is quite a bit smaller than its competitors (despite its 10.5mm thick, 430g body being quite a bit larger). Other specs on the 7.9-inch slab include a 5MP shooter, plus a VGA front-facer. A June time-frame is expected for shipping.

What do you guys think of this upcoming Acer’s behemoth? Worth waiting?

It was way back in September last when ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity got its first Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, and now it appears as though the device is getting bumped to Android version 4.2 of Jelly Bean OS. ASUS shared the good news on its Facebook page and stated that owners of the Transformer Pad Infinity can expect the OTA upgrade roll-out starting Wednesday, April 3.

It’s unclear, however, at the moment that how long the update will take to reach to all, but at least some owners may want to mosey on in to your Settings menu and see if they’ve got a Jelly Bean treat waiting.

As you would expect the new update will bring a number of like-able features under the hood. One in particular is the Multiple User accounts feature that will allow you to put multiple accounts on the device, each having its own home screens and apps. It’s not all though, as the update also brings Android’s gesture keyboard, lock screen widgets, and more.
