Mozilla is reportedly planning to release Boot 2 Gecko; its open-source based mobile OS. However, the company announced that the Brazil will be the first country to have phones running B2G open source platform. Samsung has officially launched its YOUM brand for flexible AMOLED displays, ahead of the bendable panels showing up in commercial hardware later this year. The branding comes from a new page on the Korean Samsung Mobile Display website, which offers little else other than the new name. Indian operator Bharti Airtel confirmed, it has roped in telecom equipment maker ZTE to manage its fourth generation (4G) technology based network in Kolkata, where the services are expected to be launched later this month. The planned TD-LTE network will make Bharti Airtel the country’s first 4G operator. ZTE has now won 30 commercial LTE contracts and deployed test networks with more than 100 operators around the world. 4G service offer speeds in excess of 100 Mbps compared to 21 Mbps offered by 3G players. Research In Motion’s (RIM) vice president of product management, Rob Orr, has revealed that the company is set to deliver an update to the BlackBerry 10 OS to the owners of the PlayBook tablet PC soon, which is currently running on PlayBook OS 2.0. According to a purported leaked T-Mobile document obtained by TMoNews, the carrier will offer an unlimited contract free mobile calling add-on for $10 a month starting April 4th. The new feature does not require a contract, and can be added or removed from a particular plan at will. Once added, customers will be free to call any US mobile without having to think about minutes.
